Orthopaedic Clinic II -Spinal Surgery- has been led since 1 January 2007 by Prof. Ulf Liljenqvist as an independent department. Prof. Liljenqvist previously worked for 14 years at the Orthopaedic University Clinic of Münster. Here he specialised at an early stage in the treatment of spinal diseases and led the "Spine" section.
Together with the Orthopaedics I (General Orthopaedics), Orthopaedics III (Paediatric Orthopaedics and Neuroorthopaedics) and Trauma Surgery departments, Orthopaedic Clinic II -Spinal Surgery- is the Centre for Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery at the St. Franziskus Hospital. All diseases of the spinal column are treated both conservatively and surgically in the Spinal Surgery Clinic.
Approx. 700 spinal interventions are performed each year and altogether approx. 5000 patients are treated.
