The remit of the Department for Pain Therapy covers all patients in the hospital suffering pain.

We are responsible for the organisation of implementation of modern pain therapy for all patients who have undergone operations. We are the point of contact for pain therapy problems before operations and also of course for all patients not having operations.

A major principle of our work is not to wait until your pain starts before taking action. Instead, depending on the type of planned intervention and the expected pain, we prepare a concept for your pain therapy in advance. Subsequently, we ask you and/or your treating team whether you are experiencing pain. Your pain therapy functions seamlessly and is modified at all times to any changes in circumstances.

We offer:

  • Modern drug-based acute pain therapy, possibly in combination with
    - all standard methods of regional anaesthesia
    - patient-controlled analgesia (PCA)
  • Treatment of chronic pain with recommendations for your general practitioner
  • Consultative, advisory collaboration with your ward doctor in all pain problems
  • Qualified pain therapy for tumour conditions in close cooperation with the Oncology Department

We also see our responsibility as covering patients not undergoing operations as well as pre-existing pain problems. On request by your ward doctor, we are active in all specialist departments of the hospital and give therapy recommendations.

Unfortunately we cannot offer statutory health insurance out-patient treatment for patients who have not been admitted to the hospital. This means we do not have appointments for consultations. Private consultations are however possible by arrangement.

Many thanks for your interest.
